2018 Ramsey County Road Projects

Road Construction Projects Will Soon Be Upon Us!

Link to Ramsey County Projects Interactive Map

The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners has approved more than 20 proposed construction and maintenance projects for the upcoming 2018 season. Ramsey County Public Works will lead or participate in projects that will improve travel and commerce throughout communities in the east metro.

A project list and details may be found at ramseycounty.us/roadwork. Most projects will begin in the summer. Updates will be provided online and via an interactive map as construction season progresses — including detours and timelines. Subscriptions for email updates on projects are also available.

Major projects include:

  • Resurfacing Lexington Parkway between James and University avenues in Saint Paul and between East Como Boulevard and Highway 36 in Saint Paul and Roseville.
  • Resurfacing County Road E between Centerville Road and Highway 61 in the communities of Vadnais Heights and Gem Lake.
  • Resurfacing Maryland Avenue between Greenbriar Avenue and Johnson Parkway in Saint Paul.
  • Construction of a new roadway east of I-35W within the Rice Creek Commons development site in Arden Hills.
  • Adding six miles of bicycle lanes and mixed-use trails.

Public Works will resurface about 13 miles of county roads in 2018. These projects typically include crossing improvements for pedestrians. Wheelage tax revenues – a $20 charge collected with annual vehicle registration – allow Public Works to keep pace with what had been a growing backlog of road segments in pressing need of repair.

Lexington Parkway Resurfacing

The surface layer on Lexington Parkway between James and University avenues will be removed and replaced with new, smooth pavement in 2018. The work is expected to begin during the summer. Land surveying crews will be working in the project area before, during and immediately after construction. Signal replacements on Lexington Parkway at St. ClairConcordia and St. Anthony avenues will also take place this summer.

The city of Saint Paul and Ramsey County will install a bike lane between James and St. Clair avenues in conjunction with this project.

New accessible ramps for pedestrians were installed in 2017.

Detours will be in place.

County Road E Resurfacing

The surface layer on County Road E between Centerville Road and Highway 61 will be removed and replaced with new, smooth pavement in 2018. The work is expected to begin during the summer. New accessible ramps for pedestrians will be installed. Land surveying crews will be working in the project area before, during and immediately after construction.

Maryland Avenue Resurfacing

Test project: 4-to-3 lane conversion

Ramsey County temporarily changed the stripes on Maryland Avenue between Payne Avenue and Johnson Parkway to test impacts of converting from a 4-to-3 lane road for improved safety. This test project will remain in place over the winter and additional traffic-related data will be collected. Impacts evaluated will include traffic speed and volume, bus delays and pedestrian crossings. Maryland Avenue is open to traffic during the test project.

Medians at Greenbrier and Duluth streets were added and eliminate the ability to cross Maryland Avenue at these intersections. Left turns from Maryland Avenue to Greenbrier and Duluth streets are eliminated.

Project information

Maryland Avenue (County Road 31) will be resurfaced between Greenbrier Street and Johnson Parkway in Saint Paul to create smoother and safer driving in 2018.

Community meeting

A community meeting was held at Farnsworth Lower School on September 12. The meeting included a brief project review, a summary of the plan moving forward, information about what was learned during the test, what still needs to be studied and questions or comments from meeting attendees.

Caucus Location Finder for February 6th 2018

Caucus is the start of the endorsing conventions.  Coming out to Caucus will influence House District, Congressional District and the State Conventions on the endorsement of who will become the next Governor of Minnesota.  We say “who will become” because we will work hard to ensure a Republican win in November 2018.

In addition to voting for Governor, at Caucus we will be electing Precinct Delegates and Alternates to represent the Precincts at the House District 66B Convention.  Precinct Delegates and Alternates will hold their position for two years and will be asked to attend other meetings and events throughout 2018 and 2019.  The Republican party relies on our Precinct Delegates and Alternates to keep fellow Republicans in their neighborhood informed and involved in GOP events and activities taking place in House District 66B and Congressional District 4.

Come to Caucus informed.  Review the candidate websites to determine who best aligns with your views and opinions for issues Minnesota needs to focus on.  At the end of the day, we’ll come together unified and support the endorsed candidate at the state convention.  However, your vote on February 6th starts the process to determine who Minnesota Republicans want as the next Governor.
