Volunteers Needed at the 38th Annual Hmong Freedom Festival To Hand Out Literature For Our CD4 and Statewide Endorsed Candidates

CD4 and Asian American Republican Affiliates are hosting a booth at the 38th Hmong Freedom Festival – the GOP Booth runs on both Saturday June 30, and July 1, 2018, 8:00am – 5:00pm. We will need a lot of volunteers. The event is expecting close to 60,000 attendees over the course of two days.

Please contact Karen Bauman, deputychair@cd4-mngop.com, if you can help (there is a $7.00 entry fee).  This is a packed event all weekend. This festival is a great way for us to meet and speak to the Hmong Community. There are 80,000+ Minnesota residents who are Hmong; The majority of which live in Saint Paul.  This weekend is a perfect opportunity for us to learn what matters most to the Hmong community.

You can get a shuttle ride to Gate 1 Como Ave from the State Fair Grounds como parking lot. The Shuttle is $5.00. This is off of Snelling and Como. Gate 2 is off of Lexington and Como and you have to walk a few blocks. If someone wants to be dropped off and not pay the shuttle fee they can come in on Gate 3 at Lexington and Wynne. Gate 3 is the closest to the vendor booths.

Again, please email deputychair@cd4-mngop.com if you are able to donate a couple of hours of your time either Saturday or Sunday.

What Has Betty Done For You? Or Rather, Not Done For You!

CALLING ALL CD4 REPUBLICANS

Betty is asking for thoughts and opinions at her town hall on February 1st.  Is there a reason it should just be opinions from her base? Congresswoman McCollum represents everyone in CD4.

Take this opportunity to listen to her and then give her feedback on her performance.

Congresswoman McCollum’s Voting Record

Although we are a minority political voice in Saint Paul, we don’t have to be a silent voice.

Our representatives need to hear from all of us.

Please make every effort to attend on Thursday, February 1 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the auditorium at the North High School in North St. Paul.

McCollum News: Republican-Inflicted Chaos Continues; Town Hall Set for Feb. 1

Betty McCollum

“Dear Neighbor:

On Monday, the Senate and then the House passed a short-term continuing resolution (CR), the fourth since the fiscal year started on October 1, 2017. While this 17-day CR ended a three-day government shutdown, it provides Minnesotans with no assurances that Congress will reach a budget agreement or address critical issues like protecting Dreamers.

I opposed this 17-day stopgap spending bill because it is nothing more than a cover up for the abject failure of President Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress to get its work done and pass appropriations bills.

The Republican strategy of lurching from one continuing resolution to the next will continue to cause serious damage to our national security and erode the vital services that families, businesses, and communities depend upon.

While Republicans have finally stopped blocking reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program, this legislation still fails Minnesota children and families. It does nothing to extend funding for our Community Health Centers, which will now be forced to lay off staff and limit services.

Until Republicans are serious about negotiating with Democrats on a budget agreement, the continuing resolution passed today will simply yield another continuing resolution — or shutdown — next month. That is a terrible deal for Minnesota.

For the past year, President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans have wasted time on their disastrous Trumpcare plan to take away health care from millions of Americans and their tax scam giveaway to billionaires and big corporations. They haven’t even tried negotiating in good faith with Democrats on a long-term budget deal and action on urgent national priorities.

Republicans now have until Feb. 8 — with just two full legislative days scheduled between now and then — to reach an agreement with Democrats on a long-term budget deal and national priorities. It is time for President Trump and his Republican Congress to end the chaos and begin to negotiate in good faith.

As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I will continue to speak out against President Trump and the Republicans’ failure to govern responsibly. And I will continue to vote against further delay on a real budget that meets the needs of our military and upholds our commitments to the American people.

TOWN HALL MEETING SET FOR FEBRUARY 1

The first year of President Trump’s administration has been filled with White House chaos and a Republican Congress that refuses to govern responsibly.

With that in mind, I want to update the Fourth District about what’s going on in Washington and hear directly from you about the issues that matter most to you and your families. I’m hosting a town hall meeting on Thursday, February 1 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the auditorium at the North High School in North St. Paul. North High School is located at 2416 11th Avenue, North Saint Paul, MN 55109.

I’m looking forward to a robust conversation about the Trump administration and our country’s future. Bring a friend or neighbor and join us on Thursday, February 1!”

Sincerely,

Betty McCollum
