2025 Saint Paul Booya Schedule

Booya is a hearty stew cooked up in large cauldrons for fundraisers
After the MN State Fair ends two seasons start, “Back to School,” and Booya.  The latter starts the weekend after Labor Day and usually runs to just before the General Election in November.

Booya might mean something to another part of the country but in the Upper Midwest it means a thick stew that is mixed and cooked up in a giant vat, or 55 gallon drum and served at non-profits and churches by the bowl until it’s gone.

While Booyas are not political in nature, we’ll add an extra notation of what Minnesota House District in Saint Paul or a nearby suburb each Booya is located in case your House District group wants to meet there.

Oct. 4: Hudson’s Fourth Annual Golden Rule Booya, Weitkamp Park, 648 O’Neil Road, Hudson, Wis.; Hudson Map 1 to 7 p.m. Family activities including a petting zoo, book character visits, games, face painting and exploring emergency vehicles.

Oct. 4-5: Stillwater Knights of Columbus Blessed Solanus Casey Council 163. Booya sold from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 4 at St. Mary’s Church, 423 S. Fifth St., Stillwater, Map, and after all weekend masses at St. Michael’s and St. Mary’s churches in Stillwater and St. Charles church in Bayport. HD 33B

Oct. 5: St. Francis de Sales Booya Fiesta, Highland Park Pavilion, 1200 Montreal Ave., St. Paul; Map  11:30 a.m. until gone. Booya, tacos, hot dogs, beverages, music, children’s games and raffle. HD 64B

Oct. 5: Woodbury Lutheran Church, Oakhill Campus, 9050 N. 60th St., Stillwater. Map 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. or gone. Booya, crackers, cookies, bars and coffee. Takeout available; containers provided. Proceeds benefit the local food shelf. HD 41A

Oct. 11: Chef Ben’s Booya at St. Paul Brewing, 688 E. Minnehaha Ave., St. Paul; Map 11 a.m. until gone. Fire barrels, music, Mummy Train Pumpkin Ale release and Flannel Fest — wear your favorite flannel fashion for a chance to win prizes. HD 67B

Oct. 12: American Legion Post 620, 5383 N. 140th St., Hugo; Map noon until gone. HD 33A

Oct. 19: Church of St. Agnes Fall Festival and Booya, 530 Lafond Ave., St. Paul; Map 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Games, raffle, country store and other food items available as well. Takeout available. HD 65A

Oct. 25: North St. Paul VFW Post 1350, 2483 E. Seventh Ave., North St. Paul; Map noon until gone. HD 44B

Oct. 26: Church of St. Peter, 2600 N. Margaret St., North St. Paul; Map 8 a.m. until gone. Takeout available at church’s east entrance and garage on 17th Avenue; containers provided. HD 44B

Oct. 26: Carry-out booya at St. Jerome School, 384 E. Roselawn Ave., Maplewood. Map 6 a.m. until gone; St. Jerome will provide containers. HD 44A

Nov. 1: St. Mary’s Catholic Church Lowertown, 267 E. Eighth St., St. Paul; Map 9 a.m. until noon. Sold by the quart. Containers provided. Indoor Fall Festival begins at 2 p.m.  HD 65B

Road Construction: Arcade St Between York Ave & Frost

The Blue Dot on the map represents the American Legion Post 577

One  of our East Side Delegates pointed out the street that runs passed the American Legion Post 577 is going to be closed due to road construction.

On the Map above, the Blue Dot just north of Magnolia Ave & Arcade St is where the American Legion Post 577 is located.

The Map shows Northbound & Southbound Arcade St Detours

  • The North Bound Detour for Arcade St shown in Dark Purple. This is Payne Avenue.
  • The South Bound Detour for Arcade St shown in Cyan or a Light Blue. This is Edgerton St.

So for our April 22nd Town Hall Forum you’ll have to pay attention to your GPS and the side streets on those 2 Detours. Also expect those 2 streets to have heavy traffic on them and expect delays so plan ahead by adding an extra 10 minutes before you would normally drive there.

The American Legion Parking lot is on Arcade St & Geranium Ave, the other side of the block is Jessamine Ave. See Map

Official MNDOT Posting Information

  • Arcade St. is closed to through traffic in both directions between Frost Ave. and East Wheelock Pkwy.
  • Arcade St. is closed to through traffic in both directions between Maryland Ave. East and York Ave.

Currently there is a bill seeking compensation for the Small Businesses affected on this stretch of Arcade St at the State Legislature.

The last week of the Minnesota Legislative Session brought out all sorts of last minute “gotcha” bills that pass on party line votes usually. There was one “garbage” bill that was 2800 pages long dropped on the legislature about 90 minutes to the End of Session on May 19th. It could have been the last week of the DFL Trifecta, where they control both Bodies of the Legislature, plus the Governor’s Office. Frankly they also control the State Supreme Court as well. The last Republican leaning Justice is Barry Anderson who just retired.
