Be a Block Captain in Your Precinct

At the 2022 BPOU Convention in March 19, 2022, please consider being a Block Captain in your precinct. The lowest level of an organized political unit is at the block level. In order for a Local Party Unit (bpou) to operate well it needs functional precinct activity. To have functional precinct activity you need Block Captains.

Duties of a Block Captain

Here are some duties a Block Captain can do.

  • Know who lives on your block in terms of political leanings, hobbies, if they have children, do they request political yard signs, other affiliations
  • Help the Precinct Officers put together precinct activities
  • Help put up yard signs
  • Help with Neighbor-to-Neighbor activities
  • Put together a Block Club
  • Learn about local issues affecting the neighborhood and or precinct
  • Organize a neighborhood watch group
  • Do neighbor activities to help out neighbors (cut grass, shovel sidewalks, do gardening)
  • Do civic duties such as clean the fire hydrants and bus stop locations free of snow
  • Pick up trash in your block
  • Report potholes to St Paul Public Works
Block Captains can clean off snow from bus stops, shovel sidewalks for neighbors who can’t. Essentially live your beliefs, be a good neighbor, be a good citizen, and be the friendly face of the HD 66B Republicans.

You can do some of those activities by enlisting others to help you. If you’re doing them all that would be above and beyond fantastic. If you do some of them that would be enough. The idea is you don’t need to be elected to do this, unless there are more than one person on your block, if so share the responsibilities.

You don’t have to wait until the BPOU Convention, or a specific date to become a Block Captain/Leader. Just contact mnhd66brepublicans@gmail.com with the subject line “Block Captain” in order to be a Block Captain of your block or Apartment Complex, or to ask questions about it. We’ll honor Block Captains by mentioning them at the Convention.

Thank you ahead of time for enlisting to help on the block level.

US Senate Candidate Jason Lewis to Visit HD 66B Republicans January 14th

Former 2nd Congressional District Representative Jason Lewis.

First there was Rob Barrett Jr who visited our Bpou meeting on July 9, 2019. Now the well known US Senate Candidate Jason Lewis will visit our regular bpou meeting on January 14, 2020 from 6:30 pm, at John’s Pizza Cafe’s Garden Room, 616 Como Ave (corner of Northbound Dale and Eastbound Como).

Jason Lewis will address us for about 45 minutes. Then we will continue with planning for the HD 66B Republicans Precinct Caucuses on February 25, 2020.

If you would like to order ahead at John’s Pizza Cafe go to their website at johnspizzacafe.com Their number is 651-488-1922.

This will be a working meeting, so be prepared to get involved in the planning. We are looking for Block Captains to help organize precincts and participate in precinct activities.
